Katharine Fleming

Owner, Dance Instructor

Katharine is the owner/director of Katharine’s Studio One. She has been a staple in the Northwest Florida area for many years. “My dream came true in 1975 when I opened my Dance Studio. It was always a dream of mine and with my Family and Gods help my dream came true. Dancing since age 5 my love of dance is still a big part of me. As I love every style of Dance, my ability to teach Tap is my favorite”. Katharine’s Studio One Dance Center has expanded from one small studio to two locations (Crestview and Ft. Walton Beach, Florida) Beginning her 46th year, She is so proud to have touched so many young and talented dancers that have become family with second and third generation dancers. Katharine’s Studio One is home of 'KS1 Company' Dancers that have won many Regional and National Competitions across the United States. The KS1 Company dancers have performed at Disney, on Big Red Boat Cruise ship, Royal Caribbean Cruise ship and New York City. Providing amazing dance experiences and top notch training is the goal for all students. Katharine’s Studio One invites professional guest choreographers from all over the country who are currently in the business to help keep our students up with the finest, most cutting edge material in this always changing industry. KS1 offers cutting edge choreography with a traditional background.

Tracy McDonough

Dance Instructor

Tracy has been an instructor at KS1 for 25+ years. She was born and raised in the Florida Panhandle. She graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Education. Tracy has been working alongside her mother, Katharine Fleming training young dancers for as long as she can remember. Her greatest joy is to bring the love of dance to her students and to create a positive environment where students can discover their talents and give them confidence to believe in themselves. Tracy is trained in ballet, tap, and jazz. She danced competitively with groups and solos all across Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. She attended many dance conventions with well known choreographers. She performed at Disney World and various local theatre shows including Oklahoma and West Side Story. When Tracy isn't teaching dance she is teaching Kindergarten at Kenwood Elementary.

Alyssa McDonough

Dance Instructor

Alyssa has been dancing and in the studio her whole life. She received her AA from NWFSC and was awarded a Dance Scholarship. She recently graduated from Valdosta State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Graphic Design. During her time at VSU she was a member of the Nationally ranked Red Hot Dance Team. She won two National Championship titles in the NDA Division 2 dance competition. She enjoyed performing at the Football and Basketball games and supporting the BLAZERS. Alyssa is currently teaching at KS1. She teaches Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop classes. When she is not dancing, she is the Head Graphic Designer at Eloquent Signs in Miramar Beach. She also enjoys creating memories with her Photography business.

Alise Knight

Dance Instructor

Alise was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina and is an experienced dancer with 16 years of diverse training. She began competitive dance at age 8. Throughout the years she has received many scholarships, such as; The opportunity to dance with the Rockettes, receiving prodigy from well-known dance projects, receipt of many year-round scholarships from renowned dance competitions, and being titled National Grand Soloist on many occasions. She has studied several forms of dance with her main focus being Contemporary, Open, and Lyrical. She has also had many years of training in Ballet, Pointè, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tap, Modern, Musical Theater, Tumble, Acro, and Silks. Alise has a deep feeling for music and loves to express herself through movement and choreography.

Sara Fleming

Master Teacher

Originally from Lubbock TX, Sara began dancing at age 3. After training at 'Talent Plus Dance and Gymnastics' in tap, jazz, and ballet, her passion for ballet lead her to 'Christ In The Arts Ballet' where she danced in their Pre-Professional Ballet Company for 6 years. Sara also began instructing there, teaching ages 3-17. In 2013, Sara started a dance class for children with special needs. Her students performed at the annual Make A Wish Foundation fundraiser. Sara and her husband moved to Fort Walton Beach and taught 2 years for KS1. She has now moved to Sarasota, Fl. She and her husband love playing at the beach with their baby girl, Shiloh.

Josh Swanson

Acro Teacher

Josh was born and raised in FWB as a result of his parents retiring from the Air Force here. In 2015, he graduated from UWF with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. In 2016, he joined the KS1 team as an acro (tumbling) instructor. Josh has had a passion for gymnastics since he was very young. His sister, Jordan (a former acro coach for KS1), is who really inspired his love for the sport. During his tumbling classes, Josh strives to create an environment that will encourage dancers to step out of their comfort zone while maintaining safety as the priority. When he’s not spotting aerials and back handsprings, he works at North Okaloosa Medical Center as an exercise physiologist in their Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation department, and enjoys boating, running and playing disc golf in his free time.

Stacy Valentino-Procida

Master Teacher

Stacy, born and raised in Los Angeles, has been dancing since the age of three. During adolescence, she began training under the direction of Marguerite Derricks who gave her a strong technical foundation training in body alignment, jazz technique, progressions, strength/stretch, and turns/leaps. She became part of Marguerite’s Teen Company “Generation Next” where she was able to train with top choreographers in the industry such as Liz Imperio and Michael Rooney. She grew up training with many choreographers at the Performing Arts Center in Van Nuys, Edge Pac, and Millennium Dance Complex. Since then she has assisted Michael Rooney, assisted on Jackie Slight’s competition/convention “LA Dance Magic” as well as taught and judged for “Dance Masters of America”, “VIP Dance”, and “Spotlight”. Stacy’s tap credits include training alongside Gregg Russell in his company Tapsounds Underground for 5 years as well as with Savior Glover throughout the years. Stacy has taught and directed jazz, tap, and contemporary programs for over 15 years at professional studios all over Los Angeles. She has also worked in many private school districts with children of all ages at Mariposa Elementary, Laurence School, Buckley School, La Reina School, and Archer School for girls. She most recently developed and implemented a full-on dance curriculum for grades Kindergarten-6th at Laurence School where she directed Dance within the Performing Arts Program. She has choreographed many full-length musicals for Hamilton High School of the Performing Arts and Laurence School that include “A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum”, “Little Mermaid”, “Beauty and the Beast” and “Gypsy” to name a few. Stacy’s live show concert credits include “Promotion for Candies Perfume”, “Disney’s off the Wall”, ”Relay for Life Cancer Benefit”, “Dancer’s Unite”, and “Viva El Principle” with Crisitan Castro on tour. Stacy strongly believes that incorporating dance and movement into daily routine plays a significant role in shaping the personality and life of a child. She embraces the idea that dance is more than than just movement. Dance combines the power of non-verbal communication with artistic process, and embodies creative action. It builds character, responsibility, and an increased motivation to learn. Stacy prepares children for the workplace and community life by teaching life skills through dance to advance their listening skills, self-discipline, self-confidence, poise, persistence, accuracy, and openness to new ideas. She believes excellent training and work ethic is not only essential to the longevity of a career as a dancer, but also to any career choice geared into the professional world of work. Stacy has an Associates Degree in Psychology/Child Development, a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology from Cal State Northridge, and is a trained Track and Field Champion. She currently travels as a master teacher, choreographs award winning competition numbers all over the USA, and shares her passion for dance that comes out in her teaching as she guides and inspires dancers all over the country. She is thrilled to be a part of the Industry Family as Artistic Director of the Jazz Technique and Tap Program.

Janelle Isis

Master Teacher

Janelle Issis is a talented, fun loving, American-Palestinian national touring artist, choreographer, nutritionist, and yogini! She is best known for her contagious laugh and her sultry elegance on the hit U.S. show So You Think You Can Dance (Season 9) as the top 6th female finalist and the only classically trained bellydancer ever to hit the F.O.X. stage. Currently Janelle travels teaching with Showstoppers On Tour, and just recently debut in her first international T-Mobile commercial with artist J.Balvin. Influencing beautiful minds in the art of Bellydance each week is a clear testament to Janelle’s passion for teaching and undeniable electric energy. She recently performed on Good Morning America with Derek and Julianne Hough while working with Tabitha and Napoleon, and you can find her in the video of the new hit single YOGA with Janelle Monae. She was featured in B-metro Magazine and in the Birmingham Magazine for her choreography and performance for St. Paul and the Broken Bones music video, Call Me; and check her out in the February issue of Dance Spirit Magazine talking about ``The Bellydance Difference.`` Janelle choreographed and performed on a show called Super Dancer Born Tonight China; a spin off of So You Think You Can Dance. Janelle Issis loves to dance, and from the age of 4 she was protege to “Aziza of Birmingham,” studying Classic Egyptian Bellydance, while continuing to learn other forms through various outlets. Later she attended the University of Alabama and accomplished her BA in Dance Performance and Choreography and a Minor in nutrition. Janelle has her own line of Janelley Belly Dance Wear and digital JBelly at HOME courses and has become a pioneer in the commercial dance world broadening the minds and limitations of those she teaches by bringing in her love for the art of Belly Dance and all that comes with it.

Barry Youngblood

Master Teacher

Barry has worked with the MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS, Paula Abdul, Jordan Knight, Christina Aguilera, Pink, Nelly, Busta Rhymes, Brian Mcknight and J.Lo (Jennifer Lopez). He has choreographed industrials for SEGA DREAMCAST, NIKE, REEBOK, NAMCO, AND SKECHERS. His television credits include MTV AWARDS, VH1 AWARDS, MISS AMERICA PAGENT W/DONNIE OSMOND THE TODAY SHOW, REGIS AND KELLY, THE ELLEN SHOW, BUSTA RHYMES, and P. DIDDY. He also performed for the QUEEN OF ENGLAND and with KID ROCK. Barry has choreographed music video’s for such artist as RACHAEL LAMPA, BRIAN MCKNIGHT, FRANKIE J, BABY BASH, AND NELLY. He was a featured dancer in the movie “BRINGING DOWN THE HOUZE” with STEVE MARTIN AND QUEEN LATIFA. He just shot an episode of the new TV show The Goldbergs.

Jermaine Johnson

Master Teacher

Jermaine Johnson began dancing at 14 as a hobby at his local youth club in north London. After years of training and performing Jermaine auditioned for his first professional dance audition at age 18 where he was chosen to dance for his first Celebrity artist (Alexandra Burke) on The X Factor results show in 2009. Second week running Jermaine was picked out of hundreds of dancers to dance for Legendary artist Whitney Houston on the second week of X Factor. This put Jermaine on the map and has consistently worked with many Celebrity artists including; Robbie Williams, Little Mix, Stooshe, Mario, Rebecca Ferguson, and JLS. Jermaine has also had the opportunity to dance at Wembley Stadium for the FA CUP final in 2013. Jermaine was also a resident dancer on Britain's Got Talent 2013 and The X Factor 2013 for the competing contestants. Currently Jermaine continues to work as a commercial dancer but is also pushing his own choreography with the intention to choreograph professionally for TV commercials, Music videos, Live performances, Fashion Shows etc.....
